HORIZON is not a do-it-yourself "toolbag" or generic all-purpose LIMS. It's not a converted hospital information system (HIS) or process control LIMS retrofitted for the special needs of environmental, public health or clinical/toxicology testing applications. Every transaction in HORIZON was designed, from the ground up, for industry-specific users.
HORIZON's technology base is Oracle -- both the database and the user interface. We optimized HORIZON to take advantage of Oracle's functions and performance. You aren't locked into our preferences for third-party report writers or spreadsheet applications because virtually all present-day PC packages can connect to Oracle using a direct database or ODBC connection. The industry-standard SQL language or any modern report writer may be used for ad hoc querying and reporting.
HORIZON is distributed as either a full use or application-specific license. Full use licensing is available on over one hundred platforms. ChemWare offers the cost-effective application-specific license on our most popular platform, the Intel-based server running NT. There is no functional difference between these two licenses.
HORIZON is installed in major analytical laboratories as far west as Anchorage, Alaska and as far east as Pusan, South Korea.
